Update November 25, 2021: Westfield Topanga Mall Nordstrom store. 12-strong 'Organized Gang' of looters brazenly assaulted a store security guard with manhandling and immobilizing him with pepper spray. Then smashing store glass cabinetry and displays stealing designer purses and other easily re-sellable fashion accessories valued at $45,000.
In wake if the impending 2021 Holiday Season we are now witnessing higher-end luxury retailers, department stores and mall-shops being brazenly looted by organized gangs. The Nordstrom at 'Broadway Plaza', CA had its jewelry display cases smashed by as many as 15-hammer wielding looters and having their store employees assaulted and pepper sprayed. A Jewelry store at the 'Southland Mall' in Hayward, CA was totally looted as well.
At least 17-people forced their way into a Louis Vuitton store in 'Oakbrook Center Mall' (Chicago area) and made off with at least $100,000. Then the 'Northbrook Court Mall' (only 30-miles away) a Louis Vuitton store was looted for $66,000. Witnesses reported that once they looters entered the store, they pulled out garbage bags from their coats and started filling them with smash-and-grab goods.
While in Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry and Bloomingdale’s in San Francisco's 'Union Square', the looters went to the luggage departments and commandeered large suitcases with wheels on them before running out. Outside waiting for them were usually a dozen or so ready get-away pickup-trucks and or larger type SUV’s. Closer to my own home the Louis Vuitton store in Portland, OR at Pioneer Square Mall was ransacked and looted as well.
So the big question: "Where will all of this end-up?" And what exactly is causing this most disturbing public phenomenon and totally brazen antisocial behavior? For many bystanders now being faced with these kinds of current looting happenings, it may certainly erode even further the mall or brick & mortar retail businesses and perhaps pushing even more people into the safety of online shopping! Not exactly what I personally would like to see, but then again reality always bites.

Over 60 Broadway Plaza Mall stores with Macy’s including Nordstrom, turned off the lights hours before their normal times. They say it was out of an abundance of caution of the wild scene that played itself out. Walnut Creek police say as many as 40-masked looters swarmed the store taking off with as much as $200,000 in merchandise and three store workers were hurt

Masked burglars hit Louis Vuitton store at Oakbrook Center: "This is safe area," a lady shopper said. "We come here all the time. "You don't expect that kind of thing to happen outside of the city. "I actually moved in from the city just recently. I thought I escaped all of that." A similar crime happened last month only about 30 miles away Northbrook Court Mall.
